Fashion for Positive Impact: Regenerative Transformation (RECAP)

Fashion for Positive Impact: Regenerative Transformation (RECAP)

The 4th edition of the 202030 - Berlin Fashion Summit has successfully come to an end. Sqetch is proud to support and take part in the international sustainable fashion community. For this insightful experience, the participants gathered at the Colosseum Theater in Berlin - September 2022. The panels, presentations, and interviews that took place cut to the core of how industry change-makers can build a regenerative future for fashion.

The slogan for this edition was "connecting progressive minds," and this vision came to life in unprecedented ways. Between conference sessions, in the 'co-working lounge,' the exhibition spaces, and the networking events, fashion and sustainability experts, students, designers, community organizers, scholars, and executives continued the conversations on fashion for positive impact, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and bridge-building. This is where the magic lies: in growing a diverse, multi-talented community.

The Summit addressed six themes of fashion's most cutting edge sustainability movement: regenerative transformation. The program tackled how fashion can create a positive impact in the biosphere, focusing on our planet and our communities.

Topics such as regenerative materials, restoring biodiversity and ecosystems were highlighted, creating a new culture of inclusion and equity, and reimagining workspaces as ecosystems to grow healthy creative economies. It also pointed out the transformation of the technosphere and metasphere, looking at tech innovations and digitization as areas to apply regenerative transformation.

The discussions included trust, traceability, and transparency in fashion as well as the technologies, infrastructures, and systems that are rewriting the definition of sustainability. Finally, the world of virtual fashion, DAOs, NFTs, digital design, and co-creation processes wrapped up the program.

By exploring these themes, the summit participants and speakers created a new, holistic perspective that traveled far beyond current ideas of sustainable fashion.

In addition to the conference, the Summit included a rich assortment of parallel events and exhibits, including:

  • Exhibit: All Good(s): Dutch Perspectives on Circular & Regenerative Material Design
  • Exhibit & Guided Tour: Estethica: What Lies Ahead
  • Exhibit: Staiy Magazine
  • Pop Up Think Tank: Future Talents
  • Networking Evening: VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub: Manifestation
  • Opening Press Event with Introductory Panel
  • Community Space and Café
